Artist Highlight: Danelys Sidron - A Creative Blend
We don’t like to play favorites with our prints here at Geometry, but sometimes there’s a collection that’s just so pretty we can’t help but fall in love. And that’s exactly what Danelys Sidron has created in her new collection.
That’s why we’re itching to introduce the brains behind the beauty in this month’s artist highlight. Meet Danelys Sidron, a surface pattern designer and artist whose journey from architectural restoration to full-time creativity is as inspiring as the designs she creates.
Eclectic Foundations
With a degree in architectural restoration and self-taught graphic design skills, Danelys also has more than a decade in the film industry as VP of marketing—a professional who has truly worn many hats. All that aside, art has always been her constant.
“After years of corporate life, I made the leap and became a full-time surface designer,” she says. “It’s been a blend of all my past experiences, coming together in my creative work today.”
This unique path allowed her to develop a multifaceted design approach that merges historical influences with modern sensibilities.
Finding Daily Inspo
For Danelys, inspiration often strikes in her moments of focused creativity.
“It’s when I sit down to work that everything I’ve absorbed from walks in nature, travels or books I’ve read comes to light,” she shares.
This interplay of experiences gives her designs depth and meaning, transforming everyday observations into tangible art. Nature, travel and her surroundings continue to be her greatest muses.
The Process Behind the Patterns
Danelys describes her creative process as a blend of observation and experimentation.
“I sketch what I see in nature, sometimes creating entirely new botanical elements,” she explains. Starting with watercolor—her original medium of choice—she refines her designs digitally, striking a balance between structure and spontaneity.
Her workflow thrives in a calm and focused environment, where technical skills and intuition combine seamlessly. Recently, she’s begun sharing her methods through a new course, teaching others how to translate creativity into finished designs.
Fueling the Passion
For Danelys, the joy of seeing her work out in the world keeps her motivated.
“There’s something deeply satisfying about turning an idea into something tangible—something that becomes part of someone’s home or life,” she says.
This connection drives her to keep exploring, creating, and innovating. Seeing her designs spark joy in others is what truly fuels her artistic journey.
Aesthetic Influences and Design Style
Nature is Danelys’s greatest influence, but she also draws inspiration from iconic artists like Henry Dearle, Alida Withoos, Owen Jones and Pierre Bonnard.
Her personal design aesthetic reflects this influence, blending heritage-inspired elements with modern life. “There’s always a balance of moody elegance with intricate details in what I create,” she adds.
Collaborating with Geometry
Danelys has created numerous designs for Geometry, finding inspiration in the brand’s seasonal themes and high-quality products.
“The seasonal prints push me to step outside my usual designs,” she says. “The guidelines actually expand my creativity, helping me refine ideas I hadn’t considered before.”
One of the most rewarding parts of working with Geometry is seeing her designs become cherished items in people’s homes.
“Gifting Geometry products to friends and watching their joy ripple out to others is truly fulfilling,” she shares.
